Cookie Policy
This policy explains how CheckHer uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies when you use the CheckHer website and services.
Last updated: September 13, 2026
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that may be stored on your device when you visit a website.
Websites may also use other browser technologies such as local storage, session storage, and similar mechanisms to store or access information on a user's device.
In this policy, references to cookies may also include these similar technologies where appropriate.
2. How CheckHer Uses These Technologies
CheckHer currently uses browser storage and similar technologies primarily for functionality that is necessary to operate the service or provide features requested by the user.
This may include maintaining authentication, protecting user accounts, remembering selected preferences, and supporting the reliable operation of CheckHer.
3. Authentication and Sessions
When you create an account, sign in, remain signed in, or use authenticated areas of CheckHer, authentication-related information may be stored on or accessed from your device.
This information is used to maintain your authenticated session, determine whether you are signed in, securely refresh your session where applicable, and provide account features that require authentication.
CheckHer currently uses Supabase to provide authentication and related backend functionality. Depending on the browser and authentication flow, Supabase-related authentication information may therefore be stored using browser storage.
4. User Preferences
CheckHer may store preferences on your device when necessary to remember choices you have made while using the service.
For example, CheckHer currently stores your selected light or dark appearance preference in browser storage so your chosen theme can be restored when you return.
Similar preference storage may be used where reasonably necessary to remember settings or functionality explicitly selected by you.
5. Security and Service Operation
Cookies or similar technologies may be used where they are necessary to provide requested functionality, protect the service, maintain secure sessions, prevent abuse, or support the reliable operation of CheckHer.
These technologies may work together with server-side protections such as authentication controls, account bans, rate limits, storage restrictions, and abuse-prevention systems.
6. Local Storage
Not all information stored on your device is technically a cookie. CheckHer may use browser local storage or similar technologies for appropriate service functionality.
CheckHer currently uses local storage to remember the user's selected appearance theme.
Authentication-related information may also be maintained using browser storage depending on the relevant authentication flow and browser environment.
7. Strictly Necessary Technologies
Certain browser-storage technologies are required for CheckHer to provide functionality explicitly requested by the user.
Where applicable law allows strictly necessary technologies to operate without consent, CheckHer may use them without asking for optional cookie consent.
Blocking or deleting necessary browser storage may cause features such as authentication, saved preferences, or other requested functionality to stop working correctly.
8. CheckHer Insights and Internal Analytics
CheckHer provides certain account, profile, content, and engagement insights as part of the CheckHer service, including analytics features that may be available to Premium members.
These CheckHer Insights may be generated from activity and information processed as part of operating the CheckHer platform, such as profile views, content engagement, comments, votes, and other relevant account or content activity.
The existence of these features does not necessarily mean that CheckHer uses optional analytics cookies or third-party tracking technologies.
CheckHer may use information already processed within the platform to calculate statistics and insights that are part of the functionality provided to users.
9. Optional Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking Technologies
CheckHer does not currently rely on optional third-party analytics or advertising tracking merely for the purpose of operating the Alpha version of the service.
CheckHer may introduce optional website analytics, measurement, advertising, or tracking technologies in the future.
Where consent is required by applicable law, technologies requiring consent will not be activated for the relevant user before the required consent has been obtained.
If CheckHer introduces optional technologies that materially change the information described in this policy, this Cookie Policy and, where necessary, the applicable consent controls will be updated accordingly.
10. Cookie Consent and User Choices
Where CheckHer uses optional cookies or similar technologies that require consent, users will be given an appropriate way to accept or reject them.
Where legally required, users will also be able to withdraw or change their consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
Strictly necessary technologies may continue to operate where they are permitted without consent because they are required to provide a service or functionality explicitly requested by the user.
11. Browser Controls
Most browsers provide controls that allow users to inspect, block, or delete cookies and other stored website data.
Blocking or deleting browser storage used by CheckHer may sign you out, remove saved preferences, or prevent parts of the service from functioning correctly.
12. Third-Party Services
CheckHer may rely on service providers to operate parts of the platform.
CheckHer currently uses Supabase for backend, authentication-related, database, storage, and realtime functionality.
Additional providers, including payment, infrastructure, or other operational providers, may be added as the service develops.
Where third-party services use cookies or similar technologies in connection with CheckHer, their use will be assessed and handled in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
13. Relationship With the Privacy Policy
Cookies and similar technologies may involve the processing of personal data.
Information about CheckHer's broader processing of personal data is provided in the CheckHer Privacy Policy.
This Cookie Policy should therefore be read together with the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and other applicable CheckHer legal terms.
14. Changes to This Policy
CheckHer may update this Cookie Policy when the service, technology, providers, or applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available on CheckHer and the "Last updated" date will be changed when appropriate.
15. Contact
Questions about CheckHer's use of cookies, local storage, or similar technologies can be submitted using the contact information provided in the CheckHer Impressum or the applicable CheckHer support channel.
Current CheckHer setup
CheckHer currently uses browser storage primarily for essential functionality such as authentication and saved user preferences. CheckHer's built-in Premium Insights are generated from platform activity and are not the same thing as optional third-party tracking cookies.
